简介： SaturdayNightLiveaireditsthirty-thirdseason,duringthe2007–2008televisionseasononNBC.Becauseofthe2007–08WritersGuildofAmericastrike,therewereonly12episodesproducedinthisseasoninsteadoftheusual20(with4consecutiveepisodesmadebetweenFebruary23andMarch15),makingthistheshortestseasonintheseriesrunandbeatingoutboththesixth(1980–1981)seasonandthethirteenth(1987–1988)season,whichhadthirteenepisodes.ThisisalsotheonlyseasoninSNLhistorynottohaveanewChristmasepisode,sincetheWGAstrikespannedfromNovember2007toFebruary2008.Nochangestothecasthappenedoverthesummerandeveryonefromlastseasonreturned.Duringthestrike,long-timecastmemberMayaRudolphlefttheshow,asshehadnocontractwithSNLthatyear.CaseyWilson,anactressandwriterwhofrequentlyperformsattheUprightCitizensBrigadeTheater,washiredinJanuary2008tofillthevoid,butduetothestrike,didnotappearontheshowuntiltheyreturnedonFebruary23,2008.OnNovember5,2007,aftertheepisodehostedbyBrianWilliams,theWritersGuildofAmericawentonstrike.ItwasannouncedthatSNLwouldairitsnextepisodeonNovember10,2007(withhostTheRockandmusicalguestAmyWinehouse),liveonair,withafutureepisodetofollow,featuringJonahHillandmusicalguestKidRock.However,onNovember7,2007,SNL'sofficialwebsiteconfirmedthatthoseepisodeswerecanceledandrerunswouldbeseenbeginningNovember10,andwouldcontinueduringthedurationofthestrike.TheRock/Winehouseshowwascanceled,alongwiththeJonahHill/KidRockepisode(thoughJonahHillwouldgetasecondopportunity,whenhehostedtheMarch15episode,withmusicalguestMariahCarey[fillinginforaflu-strickenJanetJackson]andTheRockwouldhostnextseason,withmusicalguestRayLaMontagne.AmyWinehousewouldnevergetthechancetobeamusicalguest,host,orevencameoduetoherdeathin2011).DuringthestrikeonNovember17,2007,thecastoftheshow,alongwithhostMichaelCeraandmusicalguestYoLaTengoperformedan"episode"oftheshowentitledSaturdayNightLive-OnStrike!attheUprightCitizensBrigadeTheatre(co-foundedbycastmemberAmyPoehler)inNewYorkCity.EverycastmemberexceptforMayaRudolphappeared,withformercastmembersHoratioSanzandRachelDratchandmusicianNorahJonesmakingcameoappearances.[1]OnFebruary12,2008,thestrikewasannouncedtobeofficiallyoverwitha92.5%vote.ProductioncontinuedonFebruary18,2008fortheFebruary23,2008episode,hostedbyformerSNLcastmemberTinaFeywithmusicalguestCarrieUnderwood.Thisseasonalsosawthedeathoftheshow'sveryfirsthost:edian/actorGeorgeCarlin.AscheduledrerunoftheepisodehostedbyEllenPagewasreplacedwitharerunoftheshow'sveryfirstepisode,whichhadCarlinashostandJanisIanandBillyPrestonasmusicalguests.
